What if the current situation would generate hope?

Hi there.

The current evolution which is taking place in society in Luxembourg, Europe and beyond kind of makes me want to take a stand . . .

First of all, I would like to highlight the fact that – from my perspective  – the choice whether or not you take the step and get vaccinated against COVID-19 remains [for most people & in regions where vaccines are available] a personal decision. At the same time, this means that positive and negative answers have to be respected equally by individual human beings.

Also, a common misunderstanding seems to be that by getting vaccinated, one suddenly agrees with all political decisions. Why would that be?!

Does an application for a loan to acquire a ‚home‘ mean that you agree with all the political decisions about housing? Or asking a reimbursement from health security mean that you agree with all the regulations to that regard?

From experience, I know that it is possible to be vaccinated against COVID 19 AND preferring a monitoring based upon recoveries and negative tests in a certain rhythm (and who knows, variations regarding the rhythm based on vaccination and variations concerning the costs based on financial income?) … but laws have never been personal wish lists, have they? [Not speaking of those who, for various reasons, wouldn’t agree with getting tested…🤔]

The regulations about monitoring the evolution of the pandemic currently seem to wake up the darkest sides of society instead.

The decision of getting vaccinated against COVID-19 or not is personal – yes, but it should not be allowed to lead to:

● belittling the value of life of ANY human being;
● decreasing the atrocity of the holocaust;
● antisemitism (or joining people who are known for antisemitic activities and/or propaganda – for people who make a difference between these two parts);
● threatening individual people;
● threatening journalists for exercising their work of investigation (and thus also threatening free press and its role as such);
● hate (in any form) based on that choice;
● getting resistent to well-founded critical analysis in various directions

The higher goal should still remain to limit the power of that virus as much as possible and keeping as much people as possible safe from the virus itself and health issues which are/seem to be scientifically linked to it.

Do you remember the imaginations „back in 2020“ about what a post-pandemic society could look like? (Sigh)

Well… if all this complex situation we’re in (after almost 2 years of the pandemic) could (still) lead to a higher awareness of  minority rights, the importance of mutual understanding and social justice in general, there might be some kind of hope for humanity.

Let’s try to not get trapped by the mind tricks going on and to spread kindness in these dark times.

I would like to send out an extra dose of love and light to everyone who cannot get vaccinated and/or is struggling because of the virus. 💜

Take care & keep your spirits high everyone!
The [idealistic] Smurf-Lady ✌
